It’s a tick from us for Millbrook, Inspired Villages

Recently, our team headed down to Devon to carry out the first SWI assessment of a senior living provider in the UK of SWI standards.
Part of the Inspired Villages community, Inspired Villages at Millbrook is situated just minutes away from Exeter. As well as the superb location for those who want a coastal life, Millbrook residents also enjoy the village facilities including a relaxation pool, café-bar, gym and studio, library and cinema.
While Inspired Villages is a member of ARCO (Associated Retirement Community Operators), the UK sector body for retirement communities, and as Approved Operators aims to comply at all times with the ARCO Consumer Code, Jamie Bunce CEO of Inspired Villages says he was keen to undertake a trial of the SWI Senor Living Standards as a process of affirming systems and practices.
“An SWI assessment will also identify new opportunities for improvement and strengthening systems and practices,” he says.
SWI assessors, Nigel Hopkins and John Kennedy were delighted to meet the Millbrook manager, Rachel Tottle, and other members of the Inspired team including ??, and learn how the systems and practices of Inspired Villages impact on the residents’ lives in and outside the village.
They also spoke to residents to learn of their experiences of living in Millbrook Village.
“Our assessment showed very content residents and staff,” says Nigel. “We have made some recommendations, and it is very encouraging to see a deep commitment to best practice and resident wellbeing. We’re very much looking forward to doing more assessments for Inspired Villages and other providers in the next few months.”
“We’d like to thank Jamie Bunce CEO of Inspired Villages for his foresight and promoting improved standards in the sector,” concludes Nigel.
From Management and Personnel, Technology and Information Management, to reviewing Resident Engagement and Experience, a SWI standards assessment is a great opportunity for a provider to benchmark practices and systems, and review where improvements can be made.
Maintaining standards isn’t just about a tick from regulatory bodies; standards are essential in helping organisations be innovative, reduce costs, and maintain respect and competitiveness in the marketplace.
